It is rare that one gets to say "I wrote the book on that" but our very own Jest does.
This is an accurate depiction of not only the history of gloving as a community but of the art of hand movement and its capabilities dating back thousands of years. It is less than 200 pages of knowledge that most glovers should internalize to keep ties to the culture and its roots.
Let's face it, there is a lot of gloving tutorial content out there. A lot. Most of it is great and very helpful but there is quite a lot of footage of glovers just talking in front of a camera that you should not have to sift through. We have gathered a comprehensive list of gloving tutorials and tutorials of other movement art disciplines that glovers can benefit from. This was the first resource the Yougotmoves developed outside of its online lessons.

WWG has quickly become a high traffic Discord server now with over 1000 members. It is filled with channels with options upon options of chat rooms, text threads, and open communication between members of the gloving community. Some Yougotmoves coaches can regularly be found leisurely in this channel along with other figureheads and active patrons of the gloving community. This server is over 1,000 members as of May 2021.
World Wide Glovers Discord ServerThey also have a Facebook group of nearly 900 members.
WWG Facebook GroupIMPACTS are a style to gloving that use a specific type of light, its modes and the unique timing of mode changing possibilities that it creates. Their most active avenue is their Facebook Group containing an absolute wealth of knowledge and access to legends that do not participate in many other groups. Since impacting is such a specific style it requires more history and understanding.
The Facebook group has over 3000 members.
This group and accompanying discord server are run by TNT - Team N Trance - the crew that made impacting what it is today.
There are a few public servers that cater to glovers, dancers flow artists, and festival attendees alike. Please be sure to always read the rules of these servers and be respectful of their rules.
Yougotmoves is not affiliated with these servers, but we do support their efforts to grow their community on discord.
Flow Underground is a small server that meets once a week for a Sunday flow session. it is managed by Stone Orbits but they welcome glovers.
The LightHouse is run by Dr Freeze. A former YGM student, he now has his own teaching program outside of YGM. This is his discord.

The LighthouseHOUSE OF PLUR is a festival meet up discord server. There is a section for flow artists but this can also serve as a festival navigation tool
HOUSE OF PLURFacebook can be a place for glovers to converse, meet, coordinate information, and compete with members outside of their immediate area (and sometimes inside of it).
PLEASE BE WARNED - This is still Facebook in general. Regardless of how wonderful some people are, there will always be negativity anywhere you go, but sunshine is appreciated a bit more after a little rain.
The Glover's Lounge is the single largest Facebook group centered only around gloving. At over 27,000 members it still is one of the main staple places to "post a show" when glovers decide they want to share something. BEWARE - The Lounge can be a mean place but there is always a delete and block button if you feel the need.
Glover's LoungePit Battles is a no-holds-barred slugfest of one on one battles judges by members of the community or by popular vote. There is also a leaderboard to challenge for it if you are feeling saucy and want to see your name in lights. It is angry, chaotic, and fun. Then again, so is a mosh pit!
Pit BattlesSell All the Lights is a secondhand marketplace run by some of Southern California's most trusted resellers of gloving items either in circulation or discontinued.

LL GLOVERSYOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE AND WE ARE HERE FOR YOU. The first thing you need to is figure out what you like.
What about gloving interests you?
Are there specific glovers who are similar to the style you want to emulate?
What about certain moves? What looks cool to you?
If you're ready for your first lesson, Here are some opening recommendations we have for basics covered:
This class is "everything you wish someone told you 3 months into gloving" and will help you build good habits to set yourself up to progress consistently and avoid plateauing.
Gloving 101 with JestCreativity is a process and it can be taught if you intend to express it through movement. Animated J is a master of creativity on all levels and he has crafted a lesson plan to help you explore that within yourself. This is not just a gloving class, this can stem to any form of movement art.
Creativity with Animated JThis class centers around a theory used to craft transitions with any given concept. Once you know what you like or what you want to learn, the information here will help you put what you know together into a show instead of just performing moves.
Transitions with TeddyThere are also plenty of other coaches covering more specific topics as well as advanced ideas that can be found here. If you want to work on advanced concepts, specific styles, or traits of your show like musicality or showmanship then check out our full list of coaches.
All Available CoachesIf all of that is a little too much or you aren't ready to jump on a video call, we have a large library of tutorials for you to check out instead.
Tutorial LibraryYes, YouTube is free. In fact, most of the knowledge that we offer can be found in one place or another. The difference between videos and classes is personal attention and interactive response. With a one on one class, you have the chance to get a response tailored to you and if something is unclear, you have the ability to ask "can you go over that again, I'm not sure I understand" - Not exactly something that translates well in YouTube comments. We have a ton of tutorials available not only from our coaches but from all over the internet organized in such a way that they can be digested in a progressive manner.
Each coach has their own teaching style , but most lessons are intended to show you how to use the tools in front of you to refine a trait or concept within your gloving capability.
Our lessons each focus around an idea. By the end of the class you will have an explanation of that idea, its application to gloving, a breakdown of how to do it and something to practice as homework so you retain the information stronger after the lesson is over.
We recommend taking one class every 2-3 weeks at MOST. We encourage students to take their time learning "every crevice" of the topics covered in their most recent lesson to get as familiar as possible before moving forward. We want your business, but we also want to make sure you get full value for what you pay for!
Visit the page of the coach you want from our list of coaches and choose what you would like to learn.
Choose your lesson topic, date, and time you want. (Please note that classes are listed in Pacific Time so adjust your request accordingly for your local time!)
You will be emailed a Google Calendar Invitation confirming your date and time requested
Check the Calendar Event Description for an invitation to our Discord Server - All of our classes take place on Discord.
Join the Server and when it is time for your class, join the "classroom" with your coach's name, they will join you shortly!
While some classes do require certain understandings before you get started, each coach is equipped to adjust their lesson plan if they need to simplify things, or get more advanced if the student is already aware of what is covered. Typically the first 3-5 minutes of your first class with a coach, expect to get to know your coach and let them know where you stand. Having a recent YouTube video of a show of yours will be very helpful to guide your coach.
TELL IT LIKE IT IS!
We have a few highlighted testimonials on our homeage as well as a Reviews section on our Facebook
YOU BET WE DO.
as mentioned above, all of our classes take place on Discord. This means that after you purchase one class, you are automatically added to our student-centered community. This discord contains additional libraries and videos/playlists of inspiration as well as direct access to our coaches on a regular basis.
We also plan to add Discord-Exclusive activities like free classes and group activities in 2021.
The first thing you need is Internet Access with reasonable enough speed for video calls. Keep in mind that you are learning a skill that requires movement, so quality connection for smooth video is key. If you are unsure about your internet, you can run a test. Make sure you click "more info" so you can check your upload speed as well.
You should have at least 32mbps download and about 3-4mbps upload speed to conduct a successful call. If you live with anyone try to test it when everyone is home or schedule your class when you have the house all or mostly to yourself.
You will also need a webcam with at least 720mp, but 1080mp is preferred. Most new Macbooks and PCs come equipped with good enough cameras but you will always get better quality from external Webcams. Lower quality webcams or connections just means you are going to have to move a little slower on camera for your coach.
That's okay though! You probably need to slow down a little anyway. 😉
You can conduct lessons from your phone and you will still get value from the class. However, we have found that taking classes on a desktop or laptop PC/Mac have yielded the best results and greatest retention from our students as well as the least amount of technical issues.

POTENTIAL - Everything about gloving has to do with unlocking potential. Our merchandise will feature 'surfaces" and feature a clash of some kind between the two. We may also include references to animals, places or other tokens of importance for anyone we plan to collaborate with on merchandise. All collaborations are licensed and we pay royalties to all parties involved, including the designer of the merchandise.
We believe in the philosophy that everyone eats! While YGM's portion may be smaller at the bottom line, we are empowering those we work with and providing them a platform to launch their merchandise.
We curate both live and online gloving competitions.
Our events curate the best possible light shows with a focus on spectators and viewers while giving the competitors each their proper spotlight.
Gloving competitions happening either in person or online are a chance for the community to come together, cheer their friends and teammates on, or scratch an itch to make a run for first place and a title of champion. Our events are designed to be the most difficult competitions in existence.
There are no beginners brackets Everyone walks away with either a prize, tools for growth, or both if they are lucky.
There are a few ways we make things happen.
1. Competitor tickets - This one is the most obvious but the prize pool is initially funded by the competitor entry price. Having a cost of entry also ensures that everyone who enters feels committed. In our experience, free competitions leads to DQs from no video submitted, free byes for opponents and less content for us. No one wins there and we make sure even if you don't take first place that everyone feels like a winner - or at least feels like you have learned and had fun from your experience with us.
2. Event Merchandise - We always make custom merchandise to support the cost of events and allow all of our fans and supporters to be properly decked out. (More details in the 'Merchandise' questions section below). Proceeds from merchandise contribute to the prizes or costs associated with their correlated event.
3. Spectator Tickets - This is mainly for live events and is pretty self explanatory. The spectator ticket costs usually go 100% to the venue we acquire for that event. If we exceed venue costs (has not happened yet....we like to go big) then we will probably do some cool stuff or bring in a headliner for the Afterparty.
4. Volunteered time - Our team and staff put in countless hours planning, executing, editing and releasing everything we do. We are not a huge company. We are a resource birthed out of necessity for a community that deserves it.
5. YGM and Sponsorship Funds - Sometimes everything above is not enough to pay for large, in-person events. This includes our funds procured from our lessons, merchandise, and services offered. This is usually just for our really big events but they are worth it. You support us with any purchase you make on our site.
Our Yougotmoves coaches who are available and commit to judging the entire competition are first come first serve for all judging spots. YGM Coaches are not allowed to compete in any YGM-ran event. We also discourage any of our staff who are assisting in the logistics of the competition to compete.
After YGM coaches, any remaining judging positions are filled in by guest judges who have a minimum of 6 years gloving experience. The judges selected have contributed to the common knowledge that is gloving setting the standard through their style, their moves that became meta, or their consistent dedication and notoriety for their impact on the community over the last decade and a half.
Judges are also grouped in ways that ensure any subjectivity is evenly distributed to all competitors to ensure as much fairness as possible.
ANYONE CAN COMPETE. We highly encourage worldwide participation.
HAVE A PLAN TO RECORD YOUR SHOWS. Online competitions is 100% based on video submissions. There are no live light shows, yet. We are working on it but we value the quality of presentation over live capability. This means that the quality of video you can produce will be to your benefit.
We will always overlay your audio for the final audio of your video when we present episodes. However, judges always watch direct video submissions. If you overlay your audio on your own, you can increase the chances that your judges will be able to get just a little more into your light show. If you can, take the time and do it!
Although video quality is not scored, it will help in displaying your light show as well as the overall quality of presentation. If you need help on Quality Camera stuff (turn your phone into a filming studio) then we got you. We've partnered with ShopMoment to refer you the best Phone-attachable camera accessories.
Anyone who purchases a ticket to our events! Competitors need two tickets, one for the competition and one for venue entry. We have not yet announced plans for another live competition due to the restrictions on events in Los Angeles. We do have plans to host an in-person competition in Spring 2022 in Southern California. More details will be announced on our social media and via our newsletter which you can sign up for in the footer menu of our website.
